Salary ooo Salary (HB)

Salary ooo Salary (Blues in HB)

In Malaysia, almost 90% companies pay their employee salary on 1st every month. Another 8% on the 7th of every month and another 2% of companies here not sure when will they pay their employees salary. Maybe on the 8th or 10th or 11th or 12th and sometimes they pay next month and sometimes they never pay at all. These companies, mostly were in construction business whether enterprise or private limited. Most of the reasons are:

1) Main contractor late pay their payment (Main Con lambat bayar..maa!!!)

2) Technical difficulties

3) Double confirm on calculation of salary.

4) And several other reasons that come to their mind.

To me, I am working with this type of company, where they pay us late every month. Even the subcontractor being paid on mid of the month and sometime their payment is being put on hold.

Previously we have reported these problems to Labor office in Johor Bahru, near Menara Ansar, but no action was taken. In fact in one year we have placed 10 complaints in every month due to this reason. What is the action of the Labor Office Department?

Ya right!!! Nothing!! The last time they came to investigate then the outcome is nil!!...And the next coming month, we still facing the same problem, again and again. How unlucky we are!!! I don’t know who to blame!? Should we blame the labor office? Should we blame the company? In what basis should we blame them? They will say we paid your salary every month, except not the exact date…or should we blame ourselves. The answer remain unseen, however I come to think that the problem that we are having is enforcement and law. The labor Office Department officers should be investigated by BPR (Anti Corruption Biro) or the new SPRM in Malaysia. Because most workers in Malaysia have been neglect by them. In my situation, we are forced to take leave when it comes to Chinese New Year, and No Public Holiday in Hari Raya Haji, we only have 10 gazette public Holidays in one year. Just imagine our situation and one more...we still working 6 days a week! I think that their officers are corrupt. This is because out of 10 complaints from us, only once they came, and that’s it!! Maybe they have taken money from my boss and keep our file away under the drawer. No wonder Malaysia have been ranked one of the top countries that still practice corruption. But like our Prime Minister always said and I quote “ berbanding dengan Negara lain…..(please fill in the blank, people!!) In translation “compared to other country……..

Sigh!! What should we do people!?
